Insurance & Risk Review ›
Reading the policies and contracts you already hold against the risks you actually run, before renewal rather than after a loss.

Formation, tax-exempt status, bylaws, board policy, and grant compliance for organizations that have to outlast their founders.
Not sure where your situation fits?
What Working With Us Looks Like
We start inside your business
We like to begin on site, walking the operation, meeting the team, reading what you have already signed.
You get an answer, not an invoice
Direct access to your attorney through a written message line, with no clock starting when you ask a question.
We think a quarter ahead
The point is not to handle problems faster. It is to have fewer of them, and to spot the next one early.

The Quarterly Business Health Checkup
Once a quarter, we put your business through a structured review, not a conversation about what went wrong, but a systematic look at twelve areas where risk tends to accumulate quietly. You leave with a prioritized list and someone to work through it.

How Boardroom Work Is Billed

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need ongoing counsel, or just a lawyer when something comes up?
Most companies start out calling a lawyer only when something breaks, and it is usually the expensive way to do it. By the time a problem is worth an invoice, the decision that caused it was made months earlier. Ongoing counsel costs less than the disputes it prevents, and it means nobody has to explain your business from scratch every time.
Is Boardroom work covered by a Partner Plan?
Most of it, yes. Partner Plans cover strategy sessions, written access to your attorney, contract review, and your firm listed as counsel of record, with Cornerstone Counsel adding a monthly legal project and the Quarterly Business Health Checkup. Litigation, court appearances, and highly specialized matters are billed separately at discounted rates for Partner clients.
Do you replace our current attorney or in-house team?
Not necessarily. We frequently work alongside existing outside counsel and in-house departments, adding capacity, a specialty they do not have, or local counsel. Where a company already has one general counsel, we often supplement them rather than replace them (one attorney cannot be equally strong across employment, transactions, IP, and compliance).
How does a new relationship start?
Usually with a Risk-Free Strategy Session, then a month or two of working together before we recommend a plan. We would rather see what you actually need than sell you a tier that does not fit. We also like to spend time at your business early on, meeting the team and seeing how the company runs.
What size company is this for?
Everything from early-stage startups to mature enterprises. Proactive legal work usually starts paying for itself somewhere around $500,000 to $1 million in annual revenue, but we also work with companies below that by identifying what they need now and what can wait until the business can support it.
Can you work with our CPA and financial advisers?
Yes, and we prefer to. Entity structure, tax treatment, succession, and exit planning all sit at the intersection of legal and financial advice, and the answers are better when the advisers are talking to each other. We coordinate with CPAs, financial planners, tax strategists, and business brokers regularly.
What if we need something you do not handle?
We find the right attorney, make the introduction, and stay involved to manage the matter, rather than handing over a name and wishing you luck. Bankruptcy, criminal, and family law fall outside what we handle directly.
Let's Talk Before You Need To
Our proactive approach helps businesses reach stability by dealing with problems while they are still decisions. If you are weighing something now (a contract, a hire, an offer, a partner who has gone quiet) that is exactly the moment to call.
